HIGH WATER UPDATE #3
September 15 2011
At 3:30pm today - Raystown Lake's level is less than 1 foot above normal pool. Last weekend's high water event peaked at 9 feet above normal level.
All campsites and cabins are now open. We have completed extensive removal of debris from the Poplar and Locust Campgrounds and will be continuing our clean-up efforts throughout the weekend in the Buccaneer's Bay section of our Marina.
At this time - Y&Z Docks and Buccaneer's Bay do not have water. We are working on the repairs and expect to have water service restored by Friday afternoon to Y&Z Docks. The water will be restored to Buccaneer's Bay as soon as debris is removed and our Maintenance Staff can access this area.
All shore power has been restored to our docks. There is limited access to I, J, and K Docks due to debris.
All other docks are accessible.
We are looking forward to a great weekend!
HIGH WATER UPDATE #2
September 9 2011
Raystown Lake's level has increased a foot since 3:30pm yesterday. This slow rise is much less than anticipated and forecasted by The Army Corps of Engineers. Local streams have crested sooner than expected and therefore outflow from the lake may begin as early as today.
There are still many variables and updates will be posted as we get more information.
At the time of this update - all docks will remain closed as well as Poplar and Locust Campgrounds and Pine Cabin #s 1-6.
HIGH WATER UPDATE
September 8 2011
With recent developments in the weather, specifically the rapid shift of
rain to the east of the Raystown Region, lake level projections have vastly
increased.
The Army Corp of Engineers – Baltimore District prediction of Sept. 7, 2230
hours was a modest rise in lake level but as of Sept. 8, 0600 hours the
estimation developed into a more significant high water event. Current lake level is approximately 4 feet above normal pool.
Therefore, safe access to the docks is not available at this time. As long
as boats are firmly moored to our docks, the boats and docks will ride out
this high water event securely.
Marina staff will be monitoring and securing any vessels or boats that may
need attention.
Docks will remained closed until the water level recedes and safe passage
from shore is possible. Individual docks may stay closed longer than
others.
The Resort will remain open during the high water. Guest in Poplar and Locust Campgrounds and Pine Cabin #s 1-6 have been relocated to campsites in the Hickory and Oak Campgrounds and to our Maple Cabins which are located at significantly higher elevations.
We have cancelled the Proud Mary's Public Cruises for this weekend.
Information and updates will continue to be available on the Resort’s
Facebook page and via twitter @Smoree.
